THE STORY OF "THE DIZZLES"
Jared Johnson was born and raised in Cutoff, La. He spent his time much like any other cajun; fishing, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. As a young boy, Jared was given the nickname "Double J", which was eventually shortened to "Dub". Jared was a very active child, despite being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at a very young age. With his mom by his side as his coach, he was given the opportunity to represent the State of Louisiana in the Special Olympics as a young man. He competed in several meets throughout the country, even travelling as far as Canada for National Competition! After tragically losing his mother in a car accident, he resigned from his position with his team and began working full time to support himself and his younger brother. In 2009, Hurricane Gustav changed Dub's employment status as a seafood chef at a popular local restaurant to "unemployed" by destroying the building. The restaurant owners could not afford to rebuild so Jared found himself searching for a new path. He loved living on the bayou and cooking seafood for a living, but something else was calling him at the time. He decided to move north, to Bossier City, La, to pursue a valuable experience and possibly a future career in Massage Therapy.
Sheree was born and raised in Shreveport, La where she enjoyed being outside, traveling, reading, and learning about all sorts of animals. As a child, she traveled abroad with her school's French Club. She and her classmates visited incredible sites like The Eiffel Tower in Paris, the changing of the guard in Switzerland, and a short swim in the Mediterranean Sea! This trip was quite the experience for a group of kids from Louisiana! She continued studying the french language and culture through high school. She was married in her early twenties for several years and had a daughter; some years later, that marriage ended. She was then a single mom and worked hard to become a certified hemodialysis technician (CCHT). She enjoyed the duties of that job for nearly 7 years, but the hours were long and her daughter was young, so she (coincidentally) decided to return to school to earn an education in Massage Therapy to better support her daughter.
Through the course of their programs, Jared, Sheree, and several other classmates met and became very good friends. This was just the beginning. Jared and Sheree began dating after Jared graduated and received his diploma in Massage Therapy. Jared decided to stay in Shreveport after his graduation so he and Sheree could continue learning about each other. Sheree decided to return to her duties as a dialysis technician and with Jared's help, she was able to work fewer hours so she could be home more often. Throughout their relationship, Jared and Sheree visited the bayou as frequently as possible. Going down the bayou was their favorite escape from the city life.
During one particular visit, the couple had stopped in to visit some friends and play some Pedro (a popular card game) before settling in for the night at their final destination. Hand after hand, the friendly competition grew more fierce. The past was reminisced, jokes were told, and names grew additions, hence, Dub "DIZZLE." The night was over after a few beers and MANY laughs! In the end, they left their friend's house as VICTORS! The new memories they all made that night are as long-lasting as the "DIZZLE" name shall be.
After getting married (which in turn made a MRS. Dub DIZZLE), they decided they wanted to give their children the opportunity to grow up and learn about life in a more simple, natural environment...away from all the big city lights and noises. They agreed to relocate their family to Cutoff where they can teach their children how to live off of the land by hunting, fishing, and gardening. That's where they are still settled now, on the beautiful Bayou Lafourche. Their family has grown to a grand total of six and life is GOOD! It's hotter than hell (nearly year-round), the marsh stinks, and the mosquitoes are the size of houseflies; but it's home, and simply put, there's just NO place like home!
The bayou is a very unique place...the food, the environment, the people, the smell of salt in the air. There is no other place on Earth like the bayou, and you haven't made a friend, til you've made a friend with a DIZZLE.

So, now here we are at DIZZLE FARMS! We researched and planned to start with chickens first, but the bunnies...oh the bunnies...they called to us! Who are we kidding?! The chickens can wait; look how CUTE the bunnies are!!!! We ordered some cages and bought 5 rabbits to start out. The question still remains: What's so "evil" about a bunny?!? Well, the title actually comes from a song we heard while in college together. It was a horrible song honestly and after our first breeding season in the rabbitry, the rabbits all seemed pretty EVIL and this song became the topic of discussion one night! We were scratched; bitten; peed on; growled, grunted, screamed and hissed at, but we didn't give up. That is the key to success: NEVER GIVE UP!! We began reading everything, meeting new people, travelling for better stock, culling harder, and slowly but surely, Evil Bunny Rabbitry has grown! We would not be where we are today, if there hadn't have been a little EVIL along the way to make us stronger!
MEH, YOU FROM DA BAYOU TOO?!?! GET DOWN!! CHECK DIS OUT:
